Primera historia protagonizada por la Patrulla-X desde el The X-Men #66.

Primera aparición en el Universo Marvel de Rondador Nocturno, Tormenta, Coloso y Ave de Trueno. Lobezno, Banshee y Fuego Solar se unen al grupo. La anterior aparición de Lobezno antes de esta historia se produjo en Incredible Hulk #182, la de Bashee en cambio fue en Captain America #172 mientras que la de Fuego Solar fue en Iron Man #70.

Todos los integrantes de la Patrulla-X Original aparecieron anteriormente en Marvel Team-Up #23, a excepción de Kaos y Polaris que fue en el Captain America #175. La aparición de la Bestia es anecdótica ya que aparece sólamente en el fondo de la ilustración de la primera página del comic junto al grupo original. Cíclope adquiere un nuevo visor en esta historia.

La siguiente aparición de todos los integrantes de la Patrulla-X, viejos y nuevos, se producirá en The X-Men #94.

Cíclope pierde el control y utiliza sus rayos sin pensar, rompiendo un monolito en el bosque. Xavier le dice a Banshee que se irá fuera y por eso ha contratado a Moira MacTaggert como ama de llaves. Esa noche La Patrulla es atacada por Kierrok, un demonio salido del monolito. Xavier descubre el origen del monolito y envía a Tormenta a sellarlo. Ésta es atacada por otros demonios, que la rodean. Ororo recuerda cómo fue enterrada, pero logra liberarse destruyendo el monolito y acabando con la amenaza de Kierrok.

Xavier tiene unas pesadillas que se van repitiendo. En ellas ve una batalla entre dos poderosas flotas estelares. Una pequeña nave sobrevive al holocausto y casi consigue ver a su tripulante. En Río Diablo, Polaris y Kaos son atacados por Eric el Rojo, que los posee para utilizarlos contra Xavier. Éstos atacan a los miembros presentes de la Patrulla-X en el aeropuerto y huyen ante la llegada de refuerzos. Lobezno recrimina a Cíclope que no utilice sus rayos contra ellos.

Lobezno libera a a sus compañeros, pero son atacados por un grupo de Centinelas. Consiguen huir atravesando una pared, pero descubren que se encuentran en el espacio.
