Man...Somebody really did a number on your car
The story opens in the current timeline where Danielle, who can fly and has superhuman strength, has tracked down Eddie and beats him up to try to get something from him. Then in progressively earlier flashback sequences, we see that Eddie and Danielle had been married, we see how they met in school, and how Eddie befriended a young boy named Francis. After forcing Eddie to promise never to tell anyone, Francis shows Eddie a drug from a secret place in his father's study that allows the user of the drug to fly.

Here and now. You don't understand..you can't
The story begins with a flashback showing Eddie's first flying experience from the drug provided by Francis. Switching timelines, an unnamed man with a strange scar on his face shows up flying over a harbor. He kills all but one of the armed men working near one particular ship. He threatens to kills the last man unless he gets a name. The story closes with a flashback sequence showing Eddie using his new powers to abduct and fly off with Danielle's father after Eddie discovers that he has been sexually abusing Danielle.

The now.
Picking up the current timeline, Eddie, badly beaten by Danielle, seeks out his childhood friend, Francis, who is now wealthy. Then in a flashback, Eddie confesses to young Francis that he killed Danielle's father by dropping him from a building after using the drug provided by Francis. The story closes when the man with the strange scar tracks down Francis' father. In revenge for the death of his own daughter after using the Fly drug, the man kills Francis' parents but decides to leave Francis alive.

Sometimes we dream about flying.
In flashbacks, we learn that Francis moved in with Eddie's family after the death of his parents. Francis vows revenge on the man who killed his parents. In the current timeline, a badly beaten Eddie tells Francis that Danielle has found him. Francis gives Eddie an experimental drug that he says will permanently negate the effects of the Fly drug. As Eddie leaves he gets a call from his new girlfriend, Mary, who is at his apartment. Eddie warns her to leave immediately, but Danielle captures her and uses Mary as leverage to threaten Eddie.

I'd just about given up at that point when Mary came into my life.
Eddie saves Mary after Danielle pushes her out an upper story window. To protect Mary, Eddie agrees to Danielle's demand for more of the Fly drug. Then in a flashback, we see how Eddie introduced the Fly drug to Danielle shortly after her father's 'disappearance'. Back in the present, Eddie gives Danielle a drug that Francis said would negate the effects of the Fly drug permanently, but instead it kills Danielle.
