Emilio's sculptures don't sell. Frustrated, he calls to Satan for help and his next sculpture, a demon, comes to life. The demon compels Emilio to kill Maria. Emilio wanders the Earth in torment until he finds a slab of perfect white marble. He carves a new sculpture of the demon and tricks the demon into inhabiting it. Emilio shatters the stature, destroying the demon's presence on Earth. Emilio dies, his work complete.

Farnum Brando; Charles Nesbit; Satan (a black cat)
Farnum is cruel to Charles. When Satan crosses their path, Farnum learns Charles is superstitious and thinks black cats are harbingers of death. Farnum brings the cat home to torment Charles, but Charles eventually seals up Farnum and Satan within Farnum's vault. Farnum dies under the cat's watchful eyes.
