Synopsis: Kurgh makes his play to be elected emperor of Romunilia. Only Kreitas raises his voice in dissent as he points out Kurgh's unrivaled treachery. Kurgh tries to have Kreitas killed but the warrior is saved by a loyal guard, Rufus. Karula and Dard settle in to life in Akogiland but Minerva, anxious to confront Kurgh herself, decides to leave. Two of Akogiland's merchants recognize Karula and sneak away to tell Kurgh's men where she is hiding.
