The team returns to that moment to find the missing sword and return it to its proper place, but they run into Elongated Man and a mystery thief who makes off with the sword. Trying to retrieve the sword, Booster is sucked into the timestream and ends up in the past alone.

Having been drawn into the timestream, Booster finds himself in World War I Europe where an American soldier who assumes Booster is the enemy fights him until they are both taken prisoner by Hans von Hammer, Enemy Ace. Sickened by the torture the Germans inflict on the prisoners, Hammer helps them escape, giving Booster the sword he was pursuing when he was drawn into the timestream. After leaving the American soldier in medical care, Booster is pulled away by the power of the sword. Booster travels to about ten years ago where he observes his previous confrontation with Supernova and Jason Goldstein. Avoiding them, and seeking to ensure that Barry Allen becomes the Flash, Booster follows Barry to a museum, where he finds Chronos and the same sword he keeps running across. Their encounter is interrupted by the chronal being who joined Goldstar and Skeets on the Time Bubble, who takes the sword, leaving Booster to get Barry to his lab in time. That task accomplished, Booster recruits his earlier self to help him solve the mystery of the chronal being and the mystical sword.
