Subsequently, Gooch writes the marriage out of the strip and Abner thinks that means he's not married either but is quickly taught otherwise.

The disguised Scragg is caught by Boyless Bailey on Sadie Hawkins day and marries him but when he's revealed as a Scragg the marriage is annulled as Scraggs had been declared "legally inhooomin by a act o' congress."
