Judy points out that it's Cuthbert's birthday, not hers, so they give the bowl to Junior. The next day, Cuthbert discovers the tureen was sold by mistake and is actually valuable. Rocket Kelly
Captain Patrick Kelly; Whacky; Manta [Sue Andrews]; Professor Andrews; Takoa
Many weeks have passed since Capt. Kelly and his trusty gunner, Whacky...
Kelly and Whacky have returned to their military duties but Kelly misses the mysterious Manta. Manta is actually Sue, the daughter of Professor Andrews, an American running a hospital in the jungle. When her father fails to save the wounded Takoa, the man's irate men shoot Prof. Andrews, massacre the other patients, and burn the hospital. Kelly and Whacky see the fire from the air and land nearby. Kelly discovers Sue is Manta; her father dies. Kelly, Sue and Whacky take off in Kelly's rocket-powered fighter, strafing the guerrillas to avenge Prof. Andrews. However, their plane is hit.

The Rocket Kelly stories up to this point were all more or less straightforward war adventure (except for the rockets on the airplane). However, the last panel of this story indicates their next adventure will take place on the planet "Selura," signifying the strip's imminent change to science fiction.
