John Blackburn complained at the time of publication that the color & "design" on the cover had been screwed up, resulting in a 2nd printing with both corrected. However, in the process, the text was replaced with the text from BOOK FOUR, which incorrectly states "All original, brand new material".

Coley Cochran
Coley Cochran; Harry "Lance" Larue; Laura (reporter); Cort; Lon Ireland; Tom (trucker); Benchley (Coley's dog)
Back from his travels, Coley has returned to California and is working on a new film with Harry. To stay out of Chief Tanner's way, he's mostly stayed around Harry's house, but is beginning to feel cooped up. Laura, a reporter hoping to snag a high-profile job, wants to interview Coley. After putting her off, Harry changes his mind and agrees. She tells her younger brother Cortland that Coley specifically invited HIM to come along. Outside the studio, Coley makes it with a trucker, Tommy, who hopes he'll see Coley again. That night, Coley, Laura & Cort watch one of Coley's movies-- in bed-- and soon things get extrememly wild. Afterwards, Cort feels he's "ruined" his relationship with his sister. To both their surprise, Coley tells Cort he really wants him, more than anyone he's ever wanted before. Cort moves in with Coley.

As his new relationship develops & deepens, Cortland tries to figure Coley out, but Harry tells him nobody can, nor should they. As time passes, Laura also becomes more heavily involved, as Coley's voodoo magnetism inspired them to act freer than they would on their own. Coley continues to seek adventure elsewhere, at one point hooking up again with Tommy, on another, with an evangelist who tells Coley he used to be gay, but changed, insisting Coley can as well. After a hot 3-way with him, Coley tells Cort, "At least he got my attention." Eventually, Laura tells Coley she feels he's no good for her brother, and asks Coley to let Cort go. But Coley tells Cort he never cared for her, only for Cort-- and finally admits, despite himself, that he does love Cort, and "wants him forever".

Harry "Lance" Larue; Kit Cameron; Coley Cochran; Lon Ireland; Manuel (riverboat hand); Danny Navarro (bodyguard); cult member
While Cort is in college, Coley, Harry, Kit & Lon travel down the Amazon River to make a new film. But Harry has an ulterior motive. He explains how, while Coley was gone for months, he learned that a member of the Cult Of Shub Niggurath (see IDOL OF FLESH) helped save Coley's life and aided the demise of the half-human Garth. This cult member gave Harry an "enchanted" dagger and intended to lead him to the Temple, but was killed by other cult members first. Rather than wait for them to attack again, Harry's decided on a pre-emptive strike, of which most of his crew know nothing. In a jungle stream, Coley & Kit have a very romantic & intense "reunion". Watching the scene is Danny Navarro, a "guide" who Harry has really hired to be Coley's bodyguard. Coley, who earlier told Lon that "under the right circumstances, anyone can be had", winds up servicing Danny after Kit leaves, and tells him he knows before long Danny will return the favor. But as they talk, a cult member watches nearby.

As filming continues, Coley has picked up a new friend-- a squirrel monkey-- and thinks he'd like to take him back to California with him. Danny discusses Coley with Harry, and wonders what makes someone gay; while, within earshot of Kit, Harry gives his opinion of women. Coley & Lon go off into the jungle to "play around". Agitated, Harry tells Danny to find them, while he makes plans to find the temple. Danny finds Coley & Lon, and true to form, quickly joins in. Kit feels it's not a good idea for Harry to go off on his own, and winds up following him. Suddenly, they're surrounded by members of the cult, who say they've captured Danny & Lon. Meanwhile, Coley is approached by Esmerelda, who says she's the "only one" who can help him.

Part 3 of 6. Cover & title page pin-up NOT included in this collection. It's seems quite possible that at least 1 page of the story may be missing between pages 13-14 of this chapter, as the kidnapping of Danny & Lon is only described, not shown on-panel. The 2 previous reprint collections each contained a page missing from the original printings (due to lack of available space), but this volume is 16 pages shorter and is missing quite a number of "extras" (covers, pin-ups, etc.).

Esmerelda leads Coley to the temple, and says she'll tell him all she knows once he gives her what she wants. But Coley insists on taking her right then and there, in front of the temple, despite the great danger. Inside, Harry is tied up and whipped. Joquatoth feels confident Coley will come to free his friends. In another chamber, a depraved ex-Nazi scientist performs an unspeakable operation on Lon, hoping it will serve as a trial-run for helping to restore Joquatoth to full humanity. Outside, Coley roughly takes Esmerelda again and again while Joquatoth watches, his men finally assaulting Coley as he reaches the height of excitement.

Unconscious for days, Coley awakes to find himself a prisoner of the cult. Beaten, he's told by Joquatoth that Danny was eaten by the cult members and that the fate of Coley's friends now depends on him. Meanwhile, Kit and Lon have recovered from their seemingly-impossible sex-change operations, without even any scars and soon get busy with each other. Helmut has his way with Coley, then Joquatoth demands Coley choose between life with him as his lover, or death for everyone. Coley reveals Joquatoth's horrible secret for all to see, apparently sealing their fates!

Joquatoth; cult members; Coley Cochran; Lon Ireland; Harry "Lance" Larue; Nazi surgeon; Kit Cameron; Tuaarkha (demon); Manuel (riverboat crewman)
With both Coley & Lon strung up, Joquatoth uses the mystic dagger to call forth the demon Tuaarkha. As the monster ravishes Lon, Coley's new pet chews at his ropes, while a "transformed" Kit takes Harry as a cover for freeing him as well. Loose again, Coley engages Joquatoth in battle, as Kit & Harry escape. Stabbing Joquatoth seems to cause the nearby volcano to erupt, and Coley, Lon & his pet barely escape with their lives as the entire temple is engulfed in molten fire. As Harry tells Manuel, "Coley is very hard to kill."
