Mignola and Corben each hand-drew display lettering and balloons on their respective pages. // Prof. Kokman's last name reads "Koman" in previous issue but "Kokman" here. Character's name and appearance based on fan (turned industry professional) Ali T. Kokmen [sic]. // Title from inside front cover. Story begins: "Makoma is great." Framing sequence takes place shortly before events of first Hellboy miniseries, Hellboy: Seed of Destruction (Dark Horse, 1994 series) #1-4. Story within a story portrays Makoma as Hellboy until the end. Dragon fought by Makoma has seven heads and parallels but is not explicitly tied to Ogdru-Jahad.
