As the Avengers try to contact Dr. Strange about the Black Knight, they are rebuffed three times. Using his magic, Dr. Strange determines where the six pieces of the Evil Eye are located, and the Defenders take flight to get them. Fearing Asgard might come to harm due to Dormammu’s plan, Loki then contacts the Avengers and informs them of the Defenders’ goal, leaving out his and Dormammu’s role in the game. The Avengers then split up to stop the Defenders.

On the island of Rurutu, the Silver Surfer searches for the Evil Eye piece in a near-by volcano. He accidentally triggers an eruption as the Avengers quinjet flies by, harming Wanda. The Vision takes the fight to the Surfer, enraged by Wanda’s injuries. The Surfer takes the Eye piece and speeds off to warn Dr. Strange and the other Defenders about the Avengers.
