The Patrol had been jumped… The Lieutenant separated from his men. The Japanese fire was concentrated mostly on the crater-like shell hole in which the desperate Australian officer had taken cover. We joined up with the rest of the patrol and started firing to keep the advancing Japs a safe distance from the occupied shell hole. [1st page]
