Chuck romances and discards women frequently. He boasts that he’ll never marry anyone who doesn’t have “looks, brains,” and money. He agrees date Fern, the cousin of his roommate’s girlfriend, because she’s from a small town and doesn’t know anyone in the big city. Chuck falls for Fern then discovers she’s an actress hired to teach him a lesson about respecting women. He’s upset, but Fern apologizes and confesses that she really loves him, too.

Cindy is exploited as an unpaid housekeeper by her two older sisters. Her friend Mrs. Kelly, a housekeeper for a wealthy couple, gives Cindy an invitation to the Press Photographer’s Ball and has her absent employer’s chauffeur drive her to the event. Cindy is warned she must leave the ball no later than midnight to return the clothes she’s borrowed before the owners get home. Cindy meets film executive Clark at the ball but gives him a false name and runs away at midnight. He tracks her down and proposes marriage: she accepts.

Laura’s father, a policeman, is killed in the line of duty. When she grows up, Laura falls in love with Pete but he joins the police force and she says “I’ll never marry you as long as you wear that uniform!” Even though she loves Pete, Laura decides to marry Warren. When a young boy climbs an electric tower, Laura watches as Pete risks his life to rescue him. She realizes Pete is “all man!” and “a woman shouldn’t try to change a man’s ideals! If she loves him, she’ll take him as he is!” Laura and Pete will wed.
