A woman buys “Chester-Gold cigarettes,” a combinational allusion to the Chesterfield (Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co.) and Old Gold (Lorillard Tobacco Co.) brands. Detective “Curlock Foams” appears, an allusion to Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional detective Sherlock Holmes.
