Tom Wimbley
A peddler goes west with a load of goods, intending to start a general store. He is held up by three outlaws, but his double-barreled shotgun accidentally goes off, killing two and wounding the other. The surviving outlaw takes the man to his boss in Fire Creek to back up his embellished version of what happened, figuring he'd be in big trouble with the boss if he told him the truth. The boss makes the peddler the town's sheriff, thinking he's a gunslinger, but that doesn't work out the way he intended.
