The names of some of the more popular such shows are parodied in Ludwig’s evening of TV viewing (page 1, panel 5)… “Wagon Smoke”, “Gun Train”, and “Cowhide” – (“Wagon Train”, “Gunsmoke” and “Rawhide”). “Roy Ranger” is most likely a similar parody reference to cowboy star Roy Rogers.
