Foley of the Fighting 5th
Lt Foley and his patrol move upcountry to find a flatboat of trappers hauling skins, who are stalked by Ute Indians. But the skins look Indian-tanned to Foley... The cavalry battles Utes while the trappers sail on. The Utes explain: the trappers stole their hides! The thieves slipped through a pitch-dark cave, but the Utes lead Foley's men through. The Utes get their skins back and the trappers get jailed. "Now we know the [cavalry] uniforms you wear stand for justice!"

Johnny Thunder
Old Billy Smith sits in "Smith's Gauntlet" street and relates how he ran a gauntlet when this was Indian territory. "When the West was wild!" Johnny Thunder patrols because the posse hunts the Rapidan Gang. But the gang has infiltrated town! Soon he's dashing through alleys, diving through doors, getting dragged by a horse - running his own "gauntlet". Sharp shooting knocks guns awry and snips frees JT from a lasso. The gang is captured. And old Billy Smith renames the street "Smith's and Thunder's Gauntlet". "You never kin tell when [the West] is goin' to get wild again!"
