Steve Bissette talks about how he created this story. He conceived and executed a 24-page complete comic narrative in a single 24-hour period, without any prior preparation or correction. Bissette states he was influenced by a passage from Charles G. Finney's The Circus of Dr. Lao (1935), which was a caustic portrait of a lawyer.
