At the winter festival, Jon the Viking Prince would dance with Gunnda, but Toke the Red-Bearded claims a dance. The competitors shall accomplish three feats. First they scale a mountain to fetch a tern's egg, but Jon is pushed into the ocean and battles a giant sea otter. In a ski race, he's buried under snow, but uses Gunnda's cloak as a sail and wins. Finally the two battle tied to a tall pole, swinging and chopping with axes. Jon swings high and cuts Toke down - winning a dance with the fair Gunnda.
