Unbeknownst to him, his best friend Alex is going through her own changes as she becomes a slayer. When Alex and May meet, Alex destroys May in a fit of rage for turning Jacob into a vampire. Jacob in turn nearly kills Alex himself. The final panels are of Jacob offering Alex a chance to become a vampire herself
