Two years later, he launched his first comic called Comic Cuts, which was followed by titles like Illustrated Chips, The Wonder, Funny Wonder, Puck, Merry and Bright, and Firefly. In 1901 Harmsworth gathered all of his publishing ventures under the name The Amalgamated Press (AP), located at Fleetway House, Farringdon Street, London.

AP was sold to The Mirror Group in 1959 and formed the core of the IPC Magazines line of comics.

After that time, only dates were used to identify the issues. Marilyn was merged into Valentine on 25 September 1965. In the Complete Catalogue of British Comics, Denis Gifford reports 547 issues from 19 March 1955 to 18 September 1965. There are 549 weeks between those two dates, suggesting two weekly issues were not published or Gifford miscounted.
