Script: The Mad Archives #1 is reported to have credited Harvey Kurtzman, but Kurtzman told how “Bill and Al” wrote the page while Kurtzman was ill and away from the office. Gaines said that “we” filled the page out of necessity, and as a joke on Kurtzman (Benson 1986, final page of section reprinting Mad #5).
