Mary Kennedy [aka Jane] (villain, reforms, narrator); Olsen "Olie" Johnson; Mrs. Johnson; Joseph Donnici (city chemist, death); Jacobs [aka The Professor] (of the Federal Narcotics Bureau); Mac (Jacob's partner); Mr. Cushing (villain, dope peddler); Tony Petrillo (villain, dope dealer, killer, death); Esther Gordon (villain, death); Esther Gordon's mob [Maxie Gordon (Esther's husband, death); Gordon (her son, death)] (villains, all die); The Big Boss [Papa Donnici] (villain, diner owner, Joseph's father)
The true confessions of a dope smuggler...
The Johnsons hear the story of Mary Kennedy, a roomer of theirs, who left Kansas City and changed her name to escape the clutches of a drug dealer named Tony, who she was a moll for. He got her plenty of dates.....dates that were actually pushing dope on the side and when she wanted to get out of this racket, Tony reminded her that she was his front for the racket and was just as guilty as he was. Mary later learns from Jacobs, narcotics agent, that he had joined the gang to get the goods on the Big Boss, which he had. The Johnsons, after hearing the story, encouraged Mary to tell her story.

Keith Chandler : Art previously credited to Jack Cole, but this is a different style altogether, familiar but I cannot place it beyond a feeling that this looks like an artist who worked for E. C. Comics.
