Pounding hoofs revealed a clear story...
Seeing him evidently pursued by a posse, nogooders Elson and Stagg determine to capture the Ringo Kid for the bounty, and so follow him into Pilares. Ringo releases all the prisoners from the town jail, and with ex-sherrif Jim Belmont goes after the town's most evil citizen, Shark Diston.

He wore his guns low...
Gunslinger Hank Hawke rides into Tombstone, his reputation riding before him. He bullies his way though town and into a card game in the saloon. The sheriff arrives and tells him to either draw or put up his hands. A stare out between them brings Hawke to submission. The sheriff explains to the onlookers that Hawke traded on his evil reputation and was used to others just giving way, but would back down when challenged.

It was a hot, sticky August morning...
Clay Barton is robbed of a pouch of gold nuggets by a masked bandit, who steals his horse and forces him walk eleven hours back to town. With no signs of foul play on his person, Barton is arrested. Finally, after several weeks, he is released and returns to the scene of the crime. Concluding that Simms robbed him, Barton confronts him and the sheriff overhears the confession.
