It was with misgiving that Penelope Brekenridge, sole representative of a long and illustrious line of staid Bostonians, thought of the prospect of living in the Midwest.
A blue-blooded New England girl, Penelope, has to go live with working-class midwestern relatives whom she's never met. Although none are happy about it at first, soon the girl and her two cousins become fast friends as the pair tutor her in the ways of the hip, average American teenager.
