New story.

In an old portrait, Cordelia Fairheart strongly resembles the Hanna-Barbera character Penelope Pitstop from "Wacky Races" and "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop" - and continues to do so in a ghoulish way as a ghost.

Parody and/or tribute references abound:

Cordelia Fairheart parallels her real-life counterpart, pioneering aviatrix Amelia Earhart.

Flight attendant Lindy evokes-in-name pioneering aviator Charles Lindbergh.

Airline executive Mr. Sikorsky evokes Sikorsky Aircraft, a well-known manufacturer of helicopters.

Pilot Captain Wilbur Orville melds the two first names of the Wright Brothers, inventors of the flying machine.

Co-pilot Nelly Armstrong evokes-in-name astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the Moon.

And, in a brilliantly audacious pun, the airline is called "Receding Airlines".
