Mole-Men (See note)
As the world gets ready to witness Superman's latest adventures, let's take a look back at his early big- and little-screen appearances.
This retrospective gives a brief look at Superman's history on the big and small screens, from the Fleischer cartoon shorts of the 1940s to "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," which debuted in 1993.

The article includes stills and publicity images from various Superman-related adaptations throughout the years: Clark Kent from the Fleischer Superman cartoon shorts; Dean Cain as Superman and Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane from "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman;" Kirk Alyn as Superman and Lyle Talbot as Luthor from the 1950 serial, "Atom Man vs. Superman" (incorrectly dated to 1948 in the caption); George Reeves as Superman and Billy Curtis and Jerry Maren as Mole Men from 1951's "Superman and the Mole Men;" Christopher Reeve as Superman in "Superman: The Movie" from 1978; Superman from "Super Friends," which debuted in 1973; and Gerard Christopher the title character from "Superboy," which premiered in 1988, with Christopher stepping in to the role during the show's second season beginning in 1989. The Fleischer and "Super Friends" images are credited as being from Phototest. The "Lois & Clark" image is not credited, but the other live-action images are sourced to the Everett Collection.
