The character of Phoenicia is based on George Perez's wife Carol, who is a belly dancer and goes by the stage name of "Phoenicia." Dave Cockrum is credited with several pages of this story when both George and Carol became sick and George could not finish it in time. Dave subverted his normal style and imitated George's so that the work seemed penciled and inked by one artist. (Per the editorial page in the next issue.)
