Synopsis: The general pairs Steve Canyon with stage magician Foo Ling, who will slip into Red China on a secret mission. Steve and Breck Nazaire trains air crew and commandos for a rescue from prison camp, and Dr. Deen Wilderness leaps aboard at the last minute, in place of a missing male doctor. Breck, whose attempts to romance Deen had inadvertently delayed take-off, sacrifices himself so that Steve can get airborne from China and bring the others safely home.

Synopsis: Steve and Foo Young try to rescue Foo Ling's old show-business friend, the Duchess of Denver, from an abusive husband running con games in Hong Kong. Steve and the Duchess take shelter on the ship of Captain Kew, who shanghais the pair. At sea the captain rendezvous with a submarine mother ship from Red China. The Chinese sink the Kew ship, leaving Steve and the Duchess adrift. As both are racked with fever the Duchess disappears, but Steve is rescued by a U.S. Navy seaplane.

When Red Chinese underground fighters imprison Delta, her husband assumes that she's hiding out with Steve. Steve figures out that the Chinese are tunneling under the base in order to set explosives. He rescues Delta as Fitch and Bucket run down the escaping Reds.

Steve betakes himself away, incommunicado on another secret mission, too late to learn that the message is from the late comrade's estranged but identically-named father.
