Europe knew nothing of the Far East until a medieval traveller called Marco Polo tore aside the veil of mystery in 1290...
Hearing his father and uncle's story of their journey to Peking, Marco begged to go with them on their return trip. Traveling from Venice to Acre, they used the Kahn's golden passport to travel through Tabriz, and Savah, while there Marco was taken into a tomb reported to be of Christ's three wise men. They then traveled to Hormuz but seeing the state of shipping there opted to risk the Persian desert crossing instead. Stocking up at Kerman the crossed arriving at Kubenan. To save time and distance they began a shortcut over the Pamir Mountains.

In the deep woods -- the pygmies -- remnants of the Stone Age -- listen in amazement --
While the world, Phantom, and pygmies follow Colonel Conley attempt to travel around the Moon, the Denkali Pirates are having a bad day. 1st foiled by a native fishing fleet, and then by the people back home at the fishing village. The pirates stumble upon the Phantom's Isle of Eden, but Duran scares them off. Meanwhile a meteor knocks out the Conley's radio and guidance systems, forcing him to land off course and into the desperate pirates hands, who hold him for ransom. The Phantom discovers this and rescues Conley, thwarting Scragg's ransom of $10 Million USD just as he's leaving.
