The Direct (first printing), Newsstand and Canadian variants have the regular cover differences in pricing, and UPC box contents, but have the same indicia, inside front cover, inside back cover, and back cover content. As of 2023-11-04, the Canadian variant indicia content has not been confirmed.

The second and second (DC Multi-pack) printing variants were distributed to the United States direct market only, the content on the inside front cover, inside back cover and back cover varied, with some advertisements having a 1989 copyright date. The content of the UPC box also varied and additional text was added to the indicia indicating the printing sequence. Contained with in the (3 issue) DC Multi-pack with Batman #397 & Batman #398.

There is an unnamed variant with the same cover as the second printing, but with the original (unchanged) indicia of the Direct (first printing).

There is a Fourth Printing as indicated in the indicia, but it has the same cover as the Second Printing.
