As the Infinitors square off vs. the Ultra-Humanite for the first time, both in the present and later in 1942, the Humanite has other plans vs. the JSA. He drowns Superman first in the Stream, which when ingested, causes a 'fake' death to occur, but evil tendencies later appear in the 'drowned' person when they revive. To be continued...

This story takes place before the events shown in All-Star Squadron (DC, 1981 series) # 24-26 and All-Star Squadron Annual (DC, 1982 series) #2, as well as shortly after the events in Justice League of America (DC, 1960 series) #197 involving the Ultra-Humanite and the Earth-2 Superman. Mention of the Stream of Ruthlessness taken from story, "Five (5) Drowned Men", published in All-Star Comics (DC, 1940 series) #36.
