Conan confronts Isparana in an oasis and switches the talisman known as the Eye of Erlik for a replica. Conan and Isparana are then captured by slavers, but soon freed by Arsil, the Turanian soldier. Conan returns to Arenjun and turns over the talisman to Hisarr Zul, who tries to kill him, but fails.
