Aphrodite uses the mists of Nepenthe to remove the memories of Steve Trevor from Diana's mind. Hippolyte mistakenly notes that Princess Diana renounced her Amazon heritage as a way to deal with Steve Trevor's (first) death; in reality, Diana chose to remain in man's world as an ordinary human when the Amazons left this dimension to renew their magic, in Wonder Woman (DC, 1942 series) #179; consequently, Diana had already renounced her heritage when Steve was gunned down by Dr. Cyber in Wonder Woman (DC, 1942 series) #180. Even though she's the Princess, Diana must participate in the daily chores of the Amazons, such as gathering edible plants from the sea beds surrounding Paradise Island. Although seemingly renouncing her life as Wonder Woman, Princess Diana still carries the magic lasso.
