Introduces the Crusaders (Dyna-Mite, Spirit of '76, Ghost Girl, Thunderfist, Captain Wings, Tommy Lightning). The Crusaders were based on the members of the Freedom Fighters, a DC superhero team of characters originally created for Quality Comics.

Published contemporaneously, the storyline in Freedom Fighters #7-8 involved the Freedom Fighters facing a different team called the Crusaders whose members were based on the Invaders.
