Synopsis: High school sophomore Jeannie and her friends think boys their own age are immature. Jeannie’s friends dare her to “pick up” a senior and date him. The sleazy nature of the party frightens Jeannie and she leaves, but Marty follows her. Jeannie’s neighbor Fred rescues her and Jeannie vows never to be picked up again.

Synopsis: Fran is ashamed of her working class, immigrant parents, and aspires to a life that would “be worthy of me!” This makes her seem spoiled and aloof in school. Fran dates Charlie, whose parents are also working-class, but her parents don’t approve of him. Charlie and Fran get drunk and elope on the night of the school prom. They quit school and Charlie goes to work in a factory, but they live beyond their means and go into debt. Charlie abandons Fran. She goes home to her parents and re-enrolls in school. Perhaps someday Charlie will return, when he’s ready to face adult responsibilities.
