Ringo spies on Scar as he plans a train heist, but Ringo is discovered and the outlaws flee. Ringo, Cory and Dull Knife defend the payroll on the train by hiding the money in the coal car and then set out on mules. Scar assumes the money is packed on their mules and walks into an ambush.

Ringo sees Hammer felled by a silent gunshot. He learns there have been other deaths in Coronado since Sam Peabody died bringing his silencer there. Ringo discovers the killer is Patridge, killing people he blamed for the Confederacy losing the Civil War. Ringo tricks Patridge into firing on a dummy wearing his clothes and then captures Patridge and declares the silencer should be destroyed.

Nolan demands everyone remove their guns before entering Sweetwater. When Dillon's gang comes to town, Bob retires rather than face them. As Nolan confronts Dillon, a stranger rides up and offers to comply with the law. Disliking Dillon's reaction, the stranger aids Nolan in battling Dillon's gang and confiscating their guns. The stranger becomes the new deputy.
