Fourth-Wall Flouting: Jerry directly addresses the readers on page ten, panel six, to close the story.

The gags in this story, as Tom more and more desperately tries to keep the quiet – lest his cake be ruined, are evocative of the very first Tom and Jerry animated theatrical short: “Puss Gets the Boot” (1940).

Droopy, while looking for a place to bury his bone, is chosen as the mascot for a ship headed for a tropical island in search of Bluebeard's buried treasure. Droopy hides his bone in various places around the ship, causing no end of consternation for the ship's captain.

To please Tyke and restore his faith in the miracles of nature, Spike uproots a nearby tree and transplants it in their yard where the pup had previously planted a tree sprout. All goes well until two squirrels and a bluebird who lived in the tree show up and move back into their old homes - followed by a mischievous kitten.

WAH! Boo Hoo! (Sniff!)
Little Quacker has a bad case of the "cry-cups" (like hiccups, but with crying), leading to Jerry getting an equally bad case of the hiccups. They both seek a bad scare to shock them out of their respective conditions and turn to Tom for a good, scary chase. But Tom's feeling too lazy to chase anyone, so the mouse and duck force the issue, to Tom's great suspicion and fright.

Tuffy does not appear in this story, making it reminiscent of a classic-era Tom and Jerry theatrical animated short.
