Three outlaws trick Kid Colt into surrendering to the authorities in order to obtain a reduced sentence, and a possible pardon, thereby putting his outlaw days behind him. However, when a judge sentences him to five to ten years at hard labor, he escapes and brings the outlaws to justice. Then Kid Colt runs again, resuming his life as a fugitive.

Bat Hogan robs a bank and wounds the Sheriff. Pursued by a posse, he discovers that even former friends are unwilling to help him, now that he is an outlaw and a fugitive. Alone and friendless at every turn, he is soon captured by the posse.
