The City, 1947.
Synopsis:
Nervous city alderman Emil Trueheart begins a clandestine 2am meeting with ambitious crime reporter Langdon Marsh at a diner. Unfortunately for both parties, the meeting was not clandestine enough as Flattop and his tommy gun wielding killers assassinate the pair in a hail of bullets, leaving no innocent survivors in the eatery. Hot shot new detective Dick Tracy takes charge of the case, while Trueheart’s fiery daughter Tess vows her own covert investigation. Tracy and Tess team up to take in informer Mumbles. The man behind it all, Flattop’s boss, is revealed in a final page splash panel.
