Synopsis: Janet falls in love with Jeff, but refuses to marry him unless he quits working for the railroads: she’s seen how much her mother worries about her father, who is a railway worker. She schemes to get Jeff fired and he goes to work as a mechanic but is unhappy. When her father is injured in a crash and Jeff is the only one who can take the railroad wrecker to save him, Janet admits the truth. Jeff breaks up with her but saves her father. Janet realizes love is unconditional and she and Jeff reconcile.

Joyce arranges for Ken to get his job back, and hopes someday she’ll find a new love.

Synopsis: Ann and Cathy are best friends, roommates, and co-workers. They both fall for Don. When it appears Cathy will win Don’s love, Ann threatens to tell Don that Cathy’s brother is in prison unless Cathy withdraws. Cathy moves out but continues to see Don and Ann reveals the “secret.” Don says everyone knew already but “no one was ever petty enough to drag it up.” Ann rushes out and has an accident. Cathy visits her in the hospital and says everyone forgives her.
