As Richie and Gloria window shop. Gloria mentions a certain item she likes while at several stores. As they buy something small, Richie decides to secretly purchase each of the stores. His extravagant spending makes her angry, and she decides to teach Richie a lesson, informing him that she wishes the moon were hers. Eventually, Richie invites her to look through his telescope, which he has rigged to display an image of the moon "gift-wrapped" for her. Gloria thinks it looks real and storms off in anger as Richie tries to explain that it is not what she believes.
