Oddly, the feature character/title/logo in the first story of the first King Comics issue of Blondie... is "Dagwood".

Blondie does not appear in this story, even as a background character.

In this story, "T.V." is spelled with two "abbreviation periods" while, on the cover, the spelling is the more commonly used "TV".

King Comics house ad announcing its all new line of comic books: The Phantom, Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, Blondie, Beetle Bailey, and Popeye the Sailor. Ad covers the two middle pages of the centerfold.

Prior to this inauguration of King Features as its own comic book publisher, titles were formerly published by Gold Key and Harvey Comics and, after 11-13 issues of each title, the King properties would migrate to Charlton Comics for a good-sized run. Popeye the Sailor and Beetle Bailey would return to Western Publishing's Gold Key and Whitman Comics for a final original run in 1978.

A half page of small, single panel advertisements for novelty items and self-defense lessons, from Honor House, Lynbrook, NY. Black and white ad on inside back cover. Lower half of page.

The address to which to send an order for these products is "Honor House, Lynbrook, NY, Dept. 209-GK-20". The "GK" in the Department ID is believed to stand for "GOLD KEY" in such advertisements (presumably to track from which publisher the ad was seen), perhaps making this an advertising oddity of the startup of King Comics?

The corresponding "Polaris Nuclear Sub" ad, also from Honor House - and directly above this ad, does not display "GK" anywhere within its department designation.
