Dr. Monroe Harkness; Harriet Whyte
Synopsis:
Harriet, who “was always called funny-face and double-ugly” as a child, has plastic surgery to make her beautiful, although Dr. Harkness warns her she’ll still be the same person inside. Now beautiful, Harriet realizes she is “inexperienced, unpolished, tense” when dealing with male suitors. She returns to Dr. Harkness for advice and they eventually fall in love.
