Ted arranges to throw the big game for gambler Spinelli, and Vera is left as a hostage. She escapes with the help of Homer, a young professor who loves her. Vera marries Homer; Jean is their daughter. Jean decides to go to prom with Tommy after all.

Marie is charged with murder. She’s acquitted but her acting career is ruined. Marie saves her friend Grace from Roger’s clutches and when Roger shows up for Anne, he’s turned away as well.

Lawyer Curly gets Pigeon released and they fall in love, but he asks her to wait until his career is established. She refuses. Pigeon goes to work for a newspaper; she and Curly are reunited, marry, and have a child. However, she won't give up her career and they are divorced. Jane is Pigeon and Susan is her daughter, who charged dresses to her father’s account without permission. Her father is Curly and he and Jane reconcile.

Synopsis: Nurse Terry escaped from poverty to become a nurse and is determined to marry a rich doctor. She dates young intern Tom but will only marry him after he’s a success. Terry becomes his nurse and manages his practice. She brings in rich patients and rejects poor ones. To help Tom's career, Terry introduces him to Doris, whose father is head of a big hospital. When a call goes out for medical personnel to assist at a disaster, Terry refuses to go but Tom and Doris respond. Doris is badly injured while helping Tom, and he admits he loves her. Tom marries Doris and Terry is left alone.
