Phoenix [Max Jenkins]; Denise (Ed's girlfriend); the Deiei (aliens, named); Daelin (first appearance, unnamed); Officer Sully; Alexis (in flashback)
Ed is again attacked by the Deiei, but thwarts their attack just as New York's Finest show up. Unable to power down, Ed is shot dead by the police, thinking he is a threat. Ed again returns to life on the autopsy table, and soon he and Denise escape the city in her car. They run out of gas in an abandoned town named Windsor. A mysterious stranger then appears and tells Ed he's part of a bigger plan. But before he can get more answers, Ed is attacked by Max, who has also been gengineered by the Deiei.
