The Deadliest Show on Earth!

Story  on  Interior Page(s) from base issue
Subject Matter
superhero
Angie; Waldo Simpson (later Waldo Flynn); an evil clown (villain)
The bat, they say, is the penultimate creature of the night -- while the crimson-breasted robin is a thing of bright daylight, harbinger of warm sprint mornings.
Dick is enjoying a day at the circus until he realizes something is wrong when he encounters his old friend Waldo the clown but Waldo does not recognize him. Robin investigates and discovers that most of the circus workers are being hypnotically controlled by a mystery villain, who is also controlling Superman!

Credits for pencils and inks confirmed from Julius Schwartz's editorial records, provided by DC Comics. For script, Schwartz's records and printed credits only list Conway. Roy Thomas dialogue credit from Thomas in Alter Ego #100.

Waldo the clown returns as a supporting character in Robin's own series starting in Batman #337, but there his last name is Flynn not Simpson.
