Leeja Clane, daughter of Senator Clane of North Am, is awakened from a nap in sudden terror...
Dr. Noel's extreme anti-robot position is opposed even by Magnus. Noel kidnaps a selection of people including Leeja, planning to place them in suspended animation and travel to another planet where they'll build a robot-free utopia. Leeja manages a brief telepathic contact with Magnus, who tracks her down and defeats Noel.

Captain Johner; Commander Zarz; aliens from Zarz's crew; false men; innocent bystanders
Earth authorities, convinced that there are "false men" from Venus now on earth, secretly send Captain Johner and the aliens to discover how widespread their threat is.
The false men attack innocent bystanders and use the attacks to whip up a xenophobic mob. Zarz rescues the afflicted, and their gratitude defuses the mob.
