Ishida and Usagi seek out Oda, the man who sold it to Kin, but the Toady has informed on them to the same people who killed Matsudaira and they send their samurai to attack Usagi, Ishida and Oda.

Just as Usagi and Ishida have forced Kin to relinquish the Bible to them, the ronin appear, demanding the book.

Synopsis: The men pursuing the Bible turn out to be Shogunate officials and they attack Ishida and Usagi. During the fight, Kin's shop is lit on fire by a fallen candle. Hama seemingly enters the flames with the Bible, dying to protect the Bible from the state. Satisfied by the Bible's destruction, the Shogunate officials depart. Ishida turns out to be one of the secret Christians and Hama actually slipped him the Bible so he could share it with other believers.
