Harris notes, "One of Ian Flemming's [sic] popular James Bond novels had just been made into a feature-film and DC acquired a comic adaptation originally prepared like Classics Illustrated. So Showcase #43... featured 007's clash with the infamous Dr. No! A Bob Brown cover surrounded the unique, ad-free 32-page James Bond thriller." 3) The hero on the cover does not resemble Sean Connery, but the interior art is dead-on Connery.

Synopsis: In Jamaica, John Strangways is grabbed by three "blind" beggars. He was checking on "massive interference" with Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Bond goes to Jamaica and zeroes in on Crab Key. He survives fistfights, a tarantula in his bed, gunshots, and being run off the road. Finally, with the help of Honey Ryder and Quarrel, a fisherman, he reaches the island. A "dragon" tank captures them. Doctor No plans to scotch the next missile launch. Bond breaks out of his cell and stops No's radioactive strike as the doctor is electrocuted.
