First Jughead story to be drawn by Samm Schwartz, who would become the lead artist on Jughead's solo titles through the late 1980s. Art previously credited to Ray Gill. Schwartz's signature is disguised in the movie poster on the splash page ("Directed by Samm"). The poster also notes that the movie is an MLJ Production, a reference to Archie Comics' previous name, MLJ Comics.

The other contestants in the contest are Terry, Bill, Joe, and Harry, likely referring to Archie Comics staffers Terry Szenics, Bill Woggon, Joe Edwards, and Harry Shorten.
